Travelin' Solo

An item on my list to accomplish this year was a solo vacation.  I've been reading articles about solo travel and booked a room near the Chesapeake Bay several months ago.  I wanted to take my dog, Birdie, with me and Airbnb kindly supplied me with a lovely place that was also dog friendly.

For the most part, we had a great time:  we took a long walk on the Cross Island Trail in Terrapin Beach Park and made our way (driving) all around to Easton, St. Michael's, and Oxford.  We walked and saw some sights and she even got to dip her paws in the ocean for the first time.

Still, I couldn't help but feel a bit let down by my own plans.  I planned a solo vacation that included no opportunity to actually meet or interact with others.  I wouldn't recommend that if you're planning a solo vacation yourself.  Take a tour, join a group, stay in a dorm, attend a conference or retreat:  just don't isolate yourself the way I did.

I learned my lesson, for sure, but I don't regret going.  It was relaxing to just stroll and spend the day seeing a whole new part of the state that I call home.
